How do you reposition an ocular prosthesis that has rotated

How do you put your
ocular prosthesis back in place with a suction cup?

  • 1
Hold your upper eyelid firmly at eyelash level and lift to create space.
  • 2
With your right hand, slide the upper part of the prosthesis into the space created (you will see a mark on the prosthesis).
  • 3
Push the prosthesis upwards while continuing to hold it with your right hand.
  • 4
Using your left index finger, pull the lower eyelid downwards. Push the prosthesis firmly into the eye socket and release the lower eyelid.

How to put the Prosthesis Using Your Fingers

If you do not have a suction cup, you can easily reinsert your ocular prosthesis using your fingers.

  • 1

Hold the prosthesis securely between your thumb and index finger

  • 2

Insert it following the same technique demonstrated in the reinsertion tutorial

  • 3

Once the upper part is positioned beneath the upper eyelid, gently lower the lower eyelid to allow the prosthesis to slide naturally into place.

How to Remove Your Ocular Prosthesis

  • 1

Support your upper eyelid with your index finger while gently pulling down your lower eyelid with your thumb.

  • 2

Orange suction cup: Moisten the suction cup with sterile saline solution. Squeeze the rubber bulb, place it firmly against the prosthesis, then release the pressure to create suction.

  • 3

Blue suction cup: Simply moisten the suction cup before placing it onto the prosthesis.

  • 4

Gently pull downward to remove the prosthesis through the lower eyelid.

Our step-by-step tutorials are designed to help you handle your ocular prosthesis with confidence, making every gesture simple, safe, and reassuring.
